On Contrarian Wisdom

-“Spend money not time”

Often as professionals or young entrepreneurs with limited financial means, it’s necessary to do things ourselves versus hiring others to do them. It can even be a source of pride to have the ability to learn how to do anything. Chris reminded us that our intelligence can be our own worst enemy in becoming successful entrepreneurs. Instead of doing and learning how to do, learning to find the right people, empower them, and be the glue that holds the team together.

At the end of the day, the most valuable skill is being able to support other people and your team.

On Improving Systems

-“Build your systems first before building your team”

-“Leading A Team” with an emphasis on what Chris calls “Push Reporting”

Chris started and leads viral companies. How is this possible? Enter PUSH reporting. Chris developed a push reporting system for every member of his team. This means at certain time intervals, each member of the team sends him status updates that keep everyone accountable and Chris in the loop with what’s going on in the organization.

-“When an issue comes up with your team, never consider it a people problem. It’s always a systems problem.”

-“Create systems that make what you need from the staff the course of least resistance. It needs to be easier to do then not to do.”

-“Place an emphasis on having a clear and objective off -boarding system”

On the Biggest Opportunities for the future

-“Right now, our  biggest unused capacity is the 3rd world”
