Learning the Language of Leaders

Emotional Vocab One Pager

“What do you look for in companies you invest in?”

This is the question fellow Junto member Shiv Shukla posed to Angel & VC investor Raymond Watt at our November Mastermind Event. Shiv is a medical device entrepreneur raising series A capital. Raymond is serial entrepreneur, investor, and Chairman of YPO (Young President’s Organization)…and throughout the event he shared his experience and contrarian wisdom.

The answer Raymond gave was not what I expected. I was expecting product market fit, clear strategic and operational plan, etc.

Instead Raymond said…

“Emotional Vocabulary.”

I was stunned.

“Emotional vocabulary?!”…Can you explain?

He said that being an entrepreneur is mainly about people. Whether it’s your customers, team or partner…it’s people. So possessing a strong emotional vocabulary shows awareness of self and thus the possibility to understand others.

If we can’t articulate our own emotions how can we even start to understand the emotions of others.

We have a broad range of emotions. Here is a resource we will use to explore them:

At our Expanding Emotional Vocabulary & Intelligence Mastermind we will expand our emotional vocabulary and learn the language of leaders! Come join us
